I’m just now learing that Tuvalu held a general election in July of 2002. To my astonishment, Kamuta Latasi scored more votes than any candidate, and ten more than Kausea Natano. One would naturally assume that Lopati Lopati would’ve garnered more votes due to a quirk in his name. Then again, this is why they hold elections.

Why is an election held seven years ago of import today? Ask that, and next you’ll ask why we should care about the 1970 World Cup, Nelson Mandela’s favorite soup, or–hold tight here–the advent of the Snuggie itself. These questions are pointless. Much like this blog.
